UPES University was established in 2003 by the UPES Act of the State Legislature of Uttarakhand. UPES University, through nine schools of study, offers UG, PG, PhD, and other courses to students across the Management, Engineering, and Science streams. University of Petroleum and Energy Studies is ranked nine under the University Overall category by QS Asia University Rankings 2023. Petroleum University is accredited by IACBE, NBA, and with an A Grade by NAAC, and approved by UGC, Bar Council of India, and Pharmacy Council of India. UPES University is recognised as a Scientific and Research Organisation by DISR, the Ministry of Science Technology, and the Government of India. UPES Dehradun is a member of the Association of Indian Universities, the International Association of Universities, the World Design Organisation, CII, and PhD Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The university has two campuses in Dehradun, namely UPES Bidholi and UPES Kandoli. Through CCE, the university offers distance learning courses to students. The distance education courses are approved by the Distance Education Council. 

UPES Dehradun Admission

UPES Dehradun admission offers several undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, doctoral, and distance education courses in various specializations. These include BTech, MTech, BSc, MSc and PhD. Performance in the entrance exam and GD/ PI is the basis for the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies Dehradun admission. Entrance Tests such as CAT/ MAT/ CMAT/ NMAT/ XAT will be conducted online mode.

UPES Eligibility Criteria

UPES offers various courses in varied disciplines. The University decides strict eligibility criteria for every course; failing to it may make the student’s applications considered invalid for admission into the institute. Below is a list of a few courses offered by the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies with their eligibility criteria

MBA Eligibility Criteria

  • A candidate should have a minimum of 50% marks in a bachelor’s degree and 10th and 12th examinations and merit in the university’s entrance examination.
  • The candidate must have secured a valid test score of UPESMET or CAT/ MAT/ CMAT/ NMAT/ XAT.

B.Tech Eligibility Criteria

  • A candidate should have passed the 10th board examination with 80% in aggregate as well the 12th board examination with 80% in aggregate in PCM.
  • The candidate should have a valid test score for the UPESEAT exam.
  • The candidate must have scored more than 50% in JEE exam. 

LLB Eligibility Criteria

  • The candidates must have scored 75% of their marks in their 10+2 examinations.
  • The candidates must score 60% or above in the LSAT entrance examination.
  • The candidates applying for LLB at this institute must be ranked up to or in the top 15000 in the CLAT.
